Scarlett and the Treasure Map marks the latest collaboration between lifelong friends, Kevin Walsh (Toronto, ON) and Sam Newton (Vancouver, BC).

It's a revival of 'Sam's Rot'n Pot'n Pan Band,' their former children's music band, self-described as 'rhythm-driven chuckle-billy music.'  Formed in Mexico where Sam and Kevin were living at the time, and fermented in Canada, 'Sam's Rot'n Pot'n Pan Band' went on hiatus about a dozen years ago when Kevin relocated from Vancouver to Toronto.

Kevin and Sam have since reconnected in a cross-country, dibble-dabbling sort of way, recording and sharing songs via the internet, all the while wondering what to do with their growing collection of material.

It was out of these unreleased songs that this project first took shape. The initial idea came from The Treasure Map, the big finale song Sam and Kevin had used to close out every 'Sam's Rot'n Pot'n Pan Band'  live show, and was originally  envisioned as an operatic blend of Hop on Pop and Apocalypse Now--but with pirates.

The writing and recording of Scarlett and the Treasure Map has proved to be an adventure of its own, and Sam and Kevin are grateful for all the fun they're having making this thing
